In the eternal debate over great car design, the second-generation Dodge Charger (1968-70) ranks among the top not only for the era, but for all time. This well-optioned and numbers-matching Plum Crazy ’70 Charger R/T was originally built for the California market and tops the equipment ladder with the SE (Special Edition) package. Fully restored and completed in 2018, the original numbers-matching Magnum 440 V8 has been rebuilt with a roller camshaft and valvetrain, paired with a rebuilt TorqueFlite 727 automatic transmission and 3.55 Sure-Grip rear end. Only 1,452 R/T models were built with the up-level SE package, making this one all the more rare.

Powertrain

• Original, numbers-matching Magnum 440 four-barrel V8 engine (375 horsepower)
• Rebuilt with roller-type camshaft and valvetrain – enhances performance and drivability, reduces valve lash maintenance
• Chrysler heavy-duty TorqueFlite 727 three-speed automatic transmission (rebuilt during restoration)
• Factory Performance Axle Package with Sure-Grip limited-slip differential and 3.55:1 gears
• Engine starts easily and settles well into idle after pressing gas pedal once to engage choke
